Mr. Ray Anderson Hood

Mr. Ray Anderson Hood, age 89, of Thomaston and formerly of Loganville, GA, died Monday, April 8, 2024, at Thomaston Manor. Memorial services for Mr. Hood will be held Thursday, April 11, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 until the funeral hour.

Mr. Hood was born in Washington, GA, on March 30, 1935, to the late Paul Anderson Hood and the late  Florence Adair Hood. He owned and operated Walton Acoustics for many years and was later employed by Chandler Interiors where he retired as a foreman at the age of 82. He was a hard-working man who led a life full of adventures, especially those that involved traveling and fishing. Most of the family vacations were scheduled and planned around fish camps.  He was known for his great sense of humor.  Mr. Hood was a veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hood was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Jean Harrell Hood; two brothers: Elbert Paul Hood and Roy Hood; and a granddaughter, Heather Johnson. He is survived by three daughters: Robin Hood and Susan Hood Morris, both of Thomaston and Kay Hood (Barry) Johnson of Snellville, GA ; one son: John Scott (Kathy) Hood of Woodbridge, VA; one sister: Gladys Bradley; one brother: Nathan (Charlene) Hood; eight grandchildren: Allison (Chris) Rogers, William (Kimberly) Reuter; Lindsey (Roberto) Ortiz, Jennifer (Joel) Moseley, Andrew Reuter, David Hood, Sarah (Dr. Andres) Fernandez, and Sam Johnson; and four great grandchildren: Benjamin Reuter, Thomas Reuter, Lucas Ortiz and Maddox Moseley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
