Mr. Ray Corley, 88, of Thomaston, died Monday, April 24th, 2017 at the Roosevelt-Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation. Funeral services for Mr. Corley will be held on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Thomaston. Burial will follow in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Yatesville. The family of Mr. Corley will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 until 8 pm. Mr. Corley was born in Thomaston on April 22nd, 1929, a son of the late John and Grace Blount Corley. He was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and served his country in the U. S. Coast Guard as an electrician's mate during the Korean conflict. Mr. Corley was employed for many years by Thomaston Mills and at the time of his retirement he was the plant manager of the Bleachery Division. Mr. Corley served as a member of the Upson County Commission from 1985 until 1998. He was a Mason and was also a football referee for the Georgia High School Association for over 20 years. Mr. Corley was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mr. Corley is survived by his daughter, Lynn Corley of Alpharetta; his grandson, Ben Adams of Thomaston; and nieces and nephews, Ronny (Stenci) Williams of Macon, Paulette (Bill) Barrett of Soperton, and Brenda Parker of Marietta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Renfroe Corley, and a daughter, Donna Ray Corley.
