Mr. Richard Miles Russell, 91, of 1273 Vickery Road, Meansville, died Monday, March 7, 2016, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mr. Russell will be held on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. Mr. Russell was born in Woodbury on August 21st, 1924, a son of the late John Asa Russell and Winnie Glazier Russell. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served after World War II. After returning to civilian life he attended radio repair technical school. Mr. Russell was a sales clerk for Thomaston Paint and Hardware for many years. He was a member of the Silvertown Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Jeanette Fortson Russell; a son, Dan Russell of Meansville; Bonnie M. Russell; three grandchildren, Richard Shane Russell of Ormond Beach, FL, Hannah Marie (Kyle) Glover of Thomaston, and Sydney Russell (Bryan) Long of Barnesville; and a great grandchild, Ian Long of Barnesville. He was preceded in death by a son, RIchard Keith Russell. The family of Mr. Russell will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 until 8 pm.
