Mr. Robert Donald "Don" Jimerson, Sr.

Mr. Robert Donald "Don" Jimerson, Sr., age 86, of Thomaston, died on Tuesday morning, September 29, 2020, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Graveside services for Mr. Jimerson will be held on Saturday, October 3, at 11:00 AM, in Upson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Andy Cunningham and Rev. Dr. Harvey West officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, October 2, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Jimerson was born on May 31, 1934 in Thomaston to the late Robert Marvin Jimerson and the late Florence Alexander Jimerson Paige. He graduated from R.E. Lee Institute in 1952 and attended Emory at Oxford. Following service in the U.S. Army, he attended Atlanta Law School where he received a Masters of Law degree. He retired from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company where he was a senior claims adjuster. He was member of Thomaston First United Methodist Church and served in various leadership roles within the Methodist Church in other towns where they had lived. He was a member of Tucker Lions Club, and served as president of the Claims Association of Washington, D.C. Locally, he served as president of the Thomaston-Upson Historical Society and Sertoma. Mr. Jimerson is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dianne Ruffin Jimerson; his daughter, Amy (Mark) Tilly; his two sons, Rob (Cheryl) Jimerson and Jay (Julie) Jimerson; a sister, LeAnna Morgan; a brother, Jimmy Jimmerson; a granddaughter, Hannah (PJ) Krauss, a grandson, Brian (Taleisha) Derthick; and a great granddaughter, Amelia Derthick.
