Mr. Stephen A. "Steve" Brown, Sr.

Mr. Stephen A. 'Steve' Brown, Sr., 82, of Jeff Davis Road, Thomaston, died Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Navicent Health Medical Center of Central Georgia, in Macon. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Tuesday, August 7, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Mr. Brown was born July 18, 1936, in Gays Mills, WI, to the late Frank Waldo Brown and Beulah Irene Dilly Brown. He received his diploma in accounting from Flint River Technical College and was the owner of Steve Brown's Lake. Mr. Brown had previously worked for Thomaston Mills, Thomaston Telephone Company as Controller, and Farm Credit. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army, stationed at Fort Benning. Mr. Brown served on the Upson County Board of Education in 1973, and he had also served on the Thomaston-Upson Recreation Authority. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Brown. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ledford Brown; two sons: Stephen A. Brown, Jr. (Madelyn), and Ken Brown (Kim), both of Thomaston; two step sons: Christopher Ledford and Joshua Kennedy, both of Thomaston; a step daughter: Franki Askew (Josh), of Hampton, GA; a sister: Beverly Davenport of Madison, WI; two granddaughters: Jessica Nixon (Jonathan), of Byron, GA; and Stephanie Mann (Michael), of Winterville, GA; and five step grandchildren: Alexis Kennedy, Bryson Kennedy, Brett Kennedy, Parker Askew, and Jonnay Askew.
