Mr. Stephen R. Hayes

Stephen R Hayes, 69, passed away Jan. 30, 2021. Born in Gastonia, NC, Steve spent his youth living near Clover, SC. Graduating from Clover High School, and The University of South Carolina, Steve worked in the communications industry, and was recently Director of Industrial Relations at Fusion Connect in Atlanta. A lifelong USC Gamecock fan, Steve enjoyed college sports. He loved to read- especially Historical and Political books. Known for his wit and humor, he liked sharing jokes and puns(sometimes good, sometimes not so good). Steve was predeceased by his parents, James H Hayes, Sr. and Myrtle T Hayes, brother Michael A Hayes Sr, and nephew Michael A Hayes Jr. Survivors include brother James H Hayes Jr (Kathy), sister Julie L Hayes, sister-in-law Ann C Hayes, numerous nieces and nephews, Cassie Ricci ( to whom Steve was a father figure for over 20 years), many close friends, and faithful canine companions Lincoln and Maverick. Fletcher Day Funeral Home, Thomaston Ga., is serving the family. Steve will be laid to rest beside his mother in the Bowling Green Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Bowling Green, SC. A private service to celebrate his life will be held at a later time.
