Mr. Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Ellington, age 89, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Pastor Kevin Stroup will officiate, and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 until the funeral hour at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Ellington was born in Upson County on April 1, 1930, to the late Louie Smith Ellington and Susie Persons Ellington. He was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and had worked in the automobile parts business at Keenan, Karp, and NAPA Auto Parts. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Tabernacle. Mr. Ellington was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sally Jimmerson Ellington. He is survived by his sons: David Ellington and Ricky (Debbie) Ellington, both of Thomaston; four grandchildren: Dan Ellington, Jayne E. (Andrew) Wade, Matt ( Sydney)Sharpe, all of Thomaston, and Jennifer (Joey) Smith of Lawrenceville, GA; and four great grandchildren: Jaelyn, Jax, and Jace Smith, and Myles Sharpe.
