Mr. William David Vickery, age 77, of Thomaston, died Thursday, November 22, at Navicent Health, Medical Center of Central Georgia. Funeral services for Mr. Vickery will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Carey Pitts officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon for one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Vickery, a native of Upson County, was born January 2, 1941, to the late William Olin Vickery and Mary Pearl McKinley Vickery. He earned a BS degree in Business Administration from West Georgia College and was the owner/operator of A&D Growers of Thomaston, where he and his wife, the late Aurelia Daniel Vickery, were well known for hydroponically grown tomatoes, snapdragons, and gerbera daisies. From 1978 - 1981 and again from 1986 - 1995, Mr. Vickery was the caretaker of the Hightower Estate, and he also had been employed by Federal Paper Board. Mr. Vickery was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Vickery was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Charles Hickman. Survivors include his sons: Robbie (Hillary) Vickery of Woodbury, GA, and Daniel (Rhonda) Vickery of Baxley, GA; six grandchildren: R.J. Vickery, Anna Kate Vickery, Braden Vickery, Mercerdees Tally, Karisa Pales, and Blake Pales. Two great grandchildren, four nieces, and four nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to ACTS Outreach of Georgia, c/o Tim Gordy, PO Box 254, Thomaston, GA 30286.
