Mr. William Donald "Dee" Rogers

Mr. William Donald “Dee” Rogers, 90, of Thomaston, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Thomaston, with the Rev. Bill Barber and the Rev. Don Howell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in South View Cemetery in Thomaston. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 23, from 6-8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mr. Rogers may be made to the Upson County Humane Society, PO Box 1152, Thomaston, GA 30286 Born in Thomaston on Sept. 12, 1929, he was affectionally known as “Dee” to those who knew him best. One of four children born to William Daniel and Maggie Lee Woodson Rogers, he graduated from Robert E. Lee Institute in 1947. He was well known and beloved in the community as a successful car salesman, having worked at and owned several local dealerships throughout his career. Dee also served in the Army National Guard from 1948-1975 and was a Mason with Morning Star Lodge #27 for more than 68 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and was also a long-time member of Fellowship Baptist, both in Thomaston. He was active in his community, spending countless hours visiting local nursing homes and was a member of the Upson County Humane Society. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Ann Melton Rogers. He is survived by his second wife, Ann Hambric Isbell Rogers of Thomaston; daughters DeAnn R. (Phil) Carpenter of Thomaston and Andrea I. (Craig) Sanders of West Point, Ga; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston, is in charge of arrangements.
