Mr. William Howard Baughcum

Mr. William Howard Baughcum, 84, of Ellenwood, died Sunday, March 20th, 2016 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Baughcum will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 at 2pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Elder Tim Mullins and Elder Eddie Wigby will officiate and burial with full military honors will follow in the High Shoals Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lamar County. The family of Mr. Baughcum will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Monday from 6 until 8 pm. Mr. Baughcum was born in Thomaston on March 29th, 1931, a son of the late Hiram R. Baughcum and Thelma Smith Baughcum. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and Vietnam War and retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his military service Mr. Baughcum was employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation and was also a self-employed home builder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Baughcum is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Iona M. Baughcum; four brothers, Bentley (Betty) Baughcum of Griffin, Doug (Nell) Baughcum and Roy Baughcum, both of Thomaston, and Floyd (Mildred) Baughcum of Woodland; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.
