Mr. William Jefferson "Billy" Dixon, age 78, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at his residence. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Dixon will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, at 2:30 PM, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA, with Rev. Chet Yates officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Atlanta Fire & Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 19045 Atlanta, GA 31126 in Mr. Dixon's memory. Mr. Dixon was born on January 8, 1940, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Everett Dixon and Irene Lee Dixon. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force where he was a crash firefighter. Mr. Dixon was a firefighter with DeKalb County Fire and Rescue, City of Atlanta Fire Dept. and was a painter with Baker Paint Co. as well as Piedmont Fayette Hospital. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Claire Robinson Dixon of Thomaston; a daughter, Rhonda Claire Dixon (Floyd) Garner of Locust Grove; two sons, James Gregory (Tracy) Dixon, Sr. of Rock Spring, GA; Jon Lee (Christina) Dixon, Sr. of Loganville, GA; grandchildren, Ashley (Dan) Brown of Monroe, GA; Gregory Dixon, Jr. of Loganville, GA; Amanda (Garrett) Norville of Loganville, GA; Alycia Dixon of Dahlonega, GA; Brittany McSwain of Atlanta, GA; Hannah (Dylan) Peppers of Social Circle, GA; Jon Lee Dixon, Jr. of Social Circle, GA; RaeAnne Dixon of Loganville, GA; Matthew Garner of Cherry Hill, NJ; Clayton (Jamani) Garner of USAF; Ava Garner of Locust Grove, GA; and five great grandchildren. Billy was also expecting a granddaughter, Olivia Dixon. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of arrangements.
