Mr. William "Ray" Malcolm, Jr.

Mr. William "Ray" Malcolm, Jr., 81, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Malcolm will be held on Monday, August 15, at 11:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston with Rev. Ted Kandler officiating. Burial will be Monday afternoon at 3:00 PM at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Malcolm was born in Atlanta on September 18, 1940, to the late William Raphael Malcolm, Sr. and Gertrude Johns Malcolm. He grew up in the Ben Hill area of Atlanta and was a 1958 graduate of Campbell of Fairburn High School. Mr. Malcolm was retired from the Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the Stone Mountain Park and the Thomaston Masonic Lodges. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid collector of guns and knives. Mr. Malcolm was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomaston where he served as a Deacon and volunteered with the Pass the Salt and House of Care ministries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Debbie Wirth and Beverly Gunter. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Diane Malcolm of Thomaston; a daughter, Donna Huxley of Newnan, GA; two sons: Clint (Cassandra) Malcolm of Marietta, GA, and Ray (Kim) Malcolm, III, of Tyrone, GA; two sisters: Sandra (Jimmy) Harman and Gloria (Hugh) O'Neal; five grandchildren: Taylor, Jackson, Megan (Fred), Ray IV (Caitlin), and Amber (Jeff); and four great grandchildren.
