Mr. William S. "Bill" Wheeless, Sr.

Mr. William S. "Bill" Wheeless, Sr., age 77, of Thomaston, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Eternal Hope Healthcare in Griffin. Memorial services for Mr. Wheeless will be held on Sunday, March 26, at 2:00 PM, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Ryan Christopher and Rev. Chet Yates officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

Mr. Wheeless was born in Atlanta, GA, on May 18, 1945, to the late George Stallings Wheeless and the late Gladys Nicholson Wheeless. He was a 1963 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and he earned a BS degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern College. Mr. Wheeless was a registered jeweler and a certified gemologist, and he was the retired owner/operator of Wheeless Jewelry Company. He had served as President of the Georgia Retail Jewelers Association. He was a Mason and member of Morning Star Lodge #27 and was one of the first members of the Thurston Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Wheeless was a former member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and youth leader, and he was currently a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wheeless was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Cook Wheeless, in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Allen Wheeless of Thomaston; his daughter, Stephanie Wheeless (Gray) Windham of Milner, GA; his son, William Scott Wheeless, Jr. of Thomaston; a granddaughter, Lindsey Marie Wheeless (Wyatt Hale) of Columbus, GA; a great granddaughter, Aspen Layne Hale; and a sister, Ann King of Cochran, GA.
