Mrs. Alma Jackson Day, 70, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, August 5th, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Day was born on February 14th, 1944, a daughter of the late Isaac Robin Jackson and Estelle Shumate Jackson. She attended Atwater School and was graduated from R. E. Lee Institute. For many years Mrs. Day served as Upson County Deputy Tax Commissioner and retired in 2004 . At the time of her death she was employed as an administrative assistant and funeral associate at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Mrs. Day was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who relished doing for family and friends. Among her joys were cooking and tending to flowers. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Day is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Jodie S. Day of Meansville; two sisters, Mary Roche of Thomaston and Priscilla Daniel of Columbus; a brother, Elmo (Betty) Jackson of Thomaston; two grandchildren, Colton Day and Kinsleigh Day; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Day and a son, Allen Russell Day. Funeral services for Mrs. Day will be held on Thursday, August 7th, 2014, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Rev. Tim South will officiate and burial will follow in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm.
