Mrs. Angelyn "Angie" Hightower

December 8, 1935 — February 16, 2015

Mrs. Angelyn 'Angie' Holloway Hightower, 79, of Thomaston, entered into rest Monday, February 16th, 2015 at Riverside Health and Rehab surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services for Mrs. Hightower will be held Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at 11:00 a. m. at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Herb Flanders will officiate and burial will follow in South View Cemetery. Mrs. Hightower was born in Meansville, GA., on December 8th, 1935, a daughter of the late Thomas Hugh Holloway and Maggie Ruth Wilson Holloway. She was a 1954 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and in 1958 she was graduated from the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. Soon after her graduation she married her high school sweetheart, the late William Harrison Hightower III, on August 31st, 1958. Mrs. Hightower was a homemaker and an educator where she taught second grade classes for several years at Westwood Academy, Atwater School and Flint River Academy. Angie enjoyed music and could always be found either listening to tunes or singing a song. She was always willing to share her gift of arranging flowers with family, friends, and organizations. Her laughter and smile will be greatly missed. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Thomaston where she was an accomplished soloist. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Hightower is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angelyn Hightower Peacock and Richard Peacock of Augusta Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law, William 'Bill' H. Hightower IV and Kathy Hightower of Thomaston; a sister, Elsie H. Watts of Thomaston; a brother, Gerald (Kay) Holloway of Thomaston; and four grandchildren, Kathryn Peacock of Washington, DC, Kemper Peacock of Augusta, Meredith Hightower of Thomaston and Madison O'Neal of Valdosta. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. The family of Mrs. Hightower will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home in Thomaston on Wednesday from 5 until 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 707, Thomaston, GA 30286. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
