Mrs. Ann Arrington Britt

January 25, 1934 — August 2, 2022

Mrs. Ann Arrington Britt, age 88, of Thomaston, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at West Village Assisted Living Center. Funeral services will be held for Ann Arrington Britt on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Cunningham and Rev. Herb Flanders officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the First Methodist Church fellowship hall from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday. Mrs. Britt was a native of Upson County. She graduated from R.E. Lee Institute where she was Miss R.E. Lee her senior year and attended Huntingdon College and the University of Georgia. She majored in Home Economics and was a member of the Phi Mu sorority. She married W.O. Britt, III, and together they raised a family and were life-long members of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Britt was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved time spent with family and friends. She especially loved to cook and entertain. For many years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and volunteered with the church’s youth. Her home always was a popular stop for church youth parties and “Destination Unknowns,” and she enjoyed baking cakes for the church’s monthly Golden Age Club luncheons. She was devoted to her Sheltie dogs (all 15 of them!) and was known to those who didn’t know her name as the “woman with the bow in her hair.” She claimed that the bow she put in her hair each day inspired her to live out a spirit of joy. She offered a warm and loving smile to all she encountered, even in the midst of the difficult circumstances of life. The family is grateful for the love and support of all who knew her, especially those who cared for her in her later years: her friend Rosa Smith and the caregivers at West Village Assisted Living and Thomaston Hospice. The pain of our grief in her death is surpassed only by our gratitude for her life. Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. A.A. Arrington, Jr. and Eddie Mae Morgan, her brother Edward A. Arrington, and her husband W.O. Britt, III. She is survived by her three children: Bill Britt (Wendie) of Atlanta, Betty Crawford (Jerry) of Griffin, and Tommy Britt (Holly) of LaGrange; her six grandchildren: Sara Britt Pereira (Diogo), Will Britt (Gina), Brittany Crawford Henderson (Brandon), Matt B. Crawford (Kelsey), Zack Britt (Avery), and Anna Britt Crawford (Matt A.); and eight great-grandchildren: Lidia Pereira, Lucas Pereira, Billy Britt, Brody Henderson, Jax Henderson, Carter Crawford, Maddie Crawford, and Baker Crawford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of arrangements.
