Mrs. Ann Shacklett

Mrs. Ann Shacklett, age 88, of Thomaston, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Riverside Health and Rehab Center. A private graveside funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2017, at South View Cemetery, at 1:30 P.M. Dr. Glenn Gilstrap will officiate. The family of Mrs. Shacklett will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Thursday from 12 noon until 1:00 PM. Mrs. Shacklett was born in Columbia, Tennessee, and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. As a former resident of Iowa City, Iowa, Mrs. Shacklett served as a Sunday School Teacher, and Boy Scouts of America leader. In 1974, Mrs. Shacklett and her late husband Dr. Robert S. Shacklett moved to Thomaston, Georgia, in order for Dr. Shacklett to serve as a staff pathologist at Upson Regional Medical Center. In Thomaston Mrs. Shacklett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as the Chairwoman of the Women's Circle. She was preceded in death by two sons, Phil Shacklett who died in 2004, and Doug Shacklett who died in 2005. Mrs. Shacklett is survived by her daughter, Lesa (Jim) Clarke of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and her son, Brad (Donna) Shacklett of Ponte Vedra, Florida, and one grandson Drew Clarke of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
