Mrs. Anne Duncan Smith, 81, of Thomaston, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Her family will hold a memorial service on Friday, September 15, at 9:00 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston. Dr. Glenn Gilstrap will officiate. Mrs. Smith was born November 7, 1935, in New York, NY, to the late James Eddy and Elizabeth Stuart Donavin Duncan. She was a graduate of the University of Delaware and also attended St. John's University. She later attended seminary. She held a Master's degree and was a clinical psychotherapist in Port Charlotte, FL. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Abiyah McNelly of Thomaston, GA; a son, Richard B. Nelson of Newark, DE; a sister, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Toland of The Villages, FL; nine grandchildren: Roy Raymond McNelly, Jr., of Delaware, Bryan (Heather) McNelly of Thomaston, Elizabeth McNelly of Sarasota, FL, Obediyah McNelly of Gainesville, FL, David McNelly of Bradenton, FL, Daniel McNelly of Colorado, Rachel McNelly of Sarasota, FL, and Deanna Varady and Isabella Rose Varady Nelson, both of Delaware; three great grandchildren: Bryan McNelly, Jr., of Virginia, Roy McNelly, III, of Delaware, and Isaiah McNelly of Thomaston.
