Mrs. Barbara Cox Franklin

Mrs. Barbara Cox Franklin, 87, of Thomaston, died Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Franklin will be held Tuesday, April 3, at 12:00 PM, in South View Cemetery. Dr. Rex King will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 until 7 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home and at Mountain View Baptist Church Family Life Center on Tuesday afternoon following the funeral service. Mrs. Franklin, a native of Thomaston, was born August 4, 1930, to the late John J. Cox and Era Miller Cox. She was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Franklin had worked as a weaver for Thomaston Mills and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis E. Franklin, and a brother, Jerry Cox. Survivors include her children: Steven O. (Sandra) Franklin of Palm Harbor, FL; J. Gregory Franklin of Thomaston, GA; Susan Franklin (Philip) Robinson of Liberty, TN; and D. Lance (Fair) Franklin of Sandy Springs, GA., nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
