Mrs. Betty LaRose Lowe Smith, 86, of Thomaston, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Barnesville. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Thomaston Church of God. Pastor Jeff Deel and Bishop Danny L. Henderson will officiate and burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Smith will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 until 9 PM. Mrs. Smith was born in Thomaston on June 4th, 1931, a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Lillian Nevelle Birdsong Lowe. She was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker who loved cooking. She was a member of the Thomaston Church of God and was an active worker in the church as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Joy (Carl) Parnell of Meansville; a son, James 'Jim' Smith of Indianapolis, IN; six sisters, Janelle (Tommy) Howell of Thomaston, Juanita (Buzzy) Morgan of Griffin, Brenda (Elmo 'Mac') Boyt of Thomaston, Gloria (Conrad) Smith of Thomaston, Sheila (Lanney) Holtapp of Griffin, and Susie (Jack) Boyt of Thomaston; two brothers, Ray (Susie) Lowe and Ronnie (Teresa) Lowe, both of Thomaston; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Leroy Smith; a son, Danny Smith; a daughter, Judy Reedy; a grandson, Chadwick Salter; a great grandson, Jaythan Fleming; brothers Marion Lowe and Billy Lowe; and a sister, Margie Carraway.
