Mrs. Betty Ruth Austin

Mrs. Betty Ruth Austin, age 90, died Friday, November 22, 2019, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mrs. Austin will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Joey Smith will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Mrs. Austin was born in Upson County on November 2, 1929, to the late William K. and Mary Elizabeth DeLoach Hayes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Day Austin. She kept children in her home for many years. Mrs. Austin was a member of the Yatesville Senior Citizens Club, and she participated in the Chitlin Hoedown. She was a former Queen of the Hoedown. Mrs. Austin was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a daughter, Linda (David) Perdue of Thomaston; four sons: Mike (Lisa) Austin, Wayne (Hope) Austin, Andy Austin, and Barry Austin all of Thomaston; one sister, Rhunette Ellington of Thomaston; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
