Mrs. Betty Rutherford Harrison

Mrs. Betty Rutherford Harrison, 94, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Thomaston Manor. Funeral services for Mrs. Harrison will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Allen and Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Harrison will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until the funeral hour. Mrs. Harrison was born in Butler, GA to the late James “Jim” T and Georgia Ester Rutherford. At age 12 she moved to Thomaston. She graduated from R.E. Lee in 1944. Throughout her life she held a love of gardening and flowers that she shared with everyone she knew. Mrs. Harrison retired from BF Goodrich's Martha Mills and attended Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband James Clarence “Buck” Harrison Jr; son-in-law, Melvin Alva Corley; sister, Mildred Rutherford Edmonson; brothers, Clarence James Rutherford and Benny Frank Rutherford; brothers-in-law Albert Lee Edmonson and James Bryant; and sisters-in-law Priscilla Carter Rutherford and Yvonne Taunton Rutherford. Survivors are her daughters Gail (Butch) McDaniel and Sharron Corley; grandson Clay (Michele) McDaniel; granddaughter Katrina Corley; great-granddaughter Baleigh McDaniel; sister, Clayra Bryant of Thomaston, GA and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
