Mrs. Betty Sue Fowler, age 89, died Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Symphony at Oaklawn in Louisville, KY. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM, in South View Cemetery with Monty Eason officiating. Born Betty Sue McCard to the late William and Mollie Wilmot McCard in Thomaston on December 18, 1929, Sue graduated from Georgia College, received her Master's in Education from Spalding University, received a Certificate in Administration from the University of Louisville, and enjoyed class abroad through Western Kentucky University. Sue held a variety of jobs, including home economist at GE before devoting herself to her true calling as a teacher for Jefferson County, KY, public schools. She taught various grades at Alex R. Kennedy Elementary, then Klondike Elementary before retiring after 27 years. She was a member and past XI Chapter president of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a member of Harvey Brown Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and traveling. In addition to her parents, Sue is also preceded in death by her husband, Milwood Fowler; sister, Mary Smith; and brother, George McCard. She is survived by her son, William D. Fowler, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephew. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of choice.
