Mrs. Brenda Marcella Garland Dean Boyt

Mrs. Brenda Marcella Garland Dean Boyt, 82, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Boyt will be held on Thursday, January 9, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Williamson and Dr. Rex King officiating. Interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Boyt was born in Rockmart, GA, on January 7, 1938, to the late Bertis Wade Garland and Rosa Lee Cauley Garland. She held a cosmetology certificate and had owned and operated her own salon. She later worked for the State of Georgia as a Cosmetology Inspector. Mrs. Boyt enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where she was a choir member. She was previously a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester where she taught Sunday School and Bible Study. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boyt was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Dean and a brother, Ronnie Garland. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Boyt of Thomaston; two sons: Alfred Christopher (Tracy) Dean of Columbus, GA, and Dr. Michael James (Dawn) Dean of Hilliard,FL; a daughter, Tammy (Barry) Wheeless of Thomaston; a brother: Kenneth Garland; nine grandchildren: Micah Justin Dean, Fielding Stanford Dean, Ryan Dean, Jon Dean, Laney Dean, Wesley Shirley, Kailyn O'Shaughnessy, Carrie Wheeless, and Caleb Wheeless. Five great grandchildren also survive.
