Mrs. Charlene Perdue Hamby

Mrs. Charlene Perdue Hamby, age 71, went to be with the Lord October 28, 2020 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Hamby will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Barber and Rev. Judd Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM. Mrs. Hamby was born on August 8, 1949. She was adopted by Ted and Mary Perdue on June 18, 1950, to whom she brought much joy and many blessings. She was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and attending Gulf Park College and Virginia Intermont. She was employed by the Upson County Board of Education for 25 years. She worked at Rock Hill School and Upson Lee North Elementary School as a para pro in Special Education and Kindergarten. Mrs. Hamby was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. She was passionate about her family, cooking (especially for others), and her pets. She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Perdue, and brother, Sife Perdue. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gary Hamby; her mother, Mary Perdue; her son, Ed Hamby; her daughter Maria (Rodney) Salter; four grandchildren, Cody (Alex) Salter, Shyanne Salter, Holly Hamby and Ridge Hamby; and one great grandson, Caiden Salter.
