Mrs. Charlotte Burkett Morris

Mrs. Charlotte Burkett Morris, age 74, of Thomaston, died Monday, July 8, 2024, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital with her family by her side.


Funeral services for Mrs. Morris will be held Saturday, July 13, at 2:00 PM, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Ryan Christopher and Dr. Rex King officiating. Interment will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Morris will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.


Mrs. Morris was born in Thomaston, on April 8, 1950, a daughter of the late Charlie Douglas Burkett and the late Laura Cox Burkett. She was a 1969 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute, where she was the featured majorette. She was a homemaker while raising her children, and was later a sales representative for Farmer’s Home Furniture. Mrs. Morris was a lifetime member of Mountain View Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a devoted Christian. She also served as a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife and mother.


Mrs. Morris is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John Michael “Mike” Morris; her four children, Alison Michelle Granger, John Matthew Morris, Lauren Ashleigh (Stevie) Fowler, and Aimee Danielle (Paul) Morris; her two sisters, Robyn (Jesse) Simpson and Fran (Col. Ret. Bryant) Harp; her thirteen grandchildren, Chase (Hollie) Granger, Cole Granger, Lance Granger, Ty Granger, Carrington Granger, Scout Granger, Wyatt Tomlin, John Daniel Morris, Gunner McCoy Morris, Matthew Fowler, Camden Virden, Charlee Morris, and Susanna Morris; and her great grandchildren, Cameron Granger and Katalena Granger. Several nieces and nephews also survive.


In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International or the American Cancer Society.
