Mrs. Cindy McKinley Culverhouse, age 70, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at her residence.
A graveside service at Trice Cemetery will be held Sunday, November 3 at 2:00 PM. Mr. Tracy Caldwell and Rev. Jason Weems will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 2, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Fletcher Day Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends following the service at her niece's residence, 60 Ja-Ann Drive, Thomaston.
Cindy is preceded in death by her parents James T McKinley, Sr. and Annie Laura McKinley; brother James T "Jimmy" McKinley, Jr; sister Becky McKinley McDaniel; brother-in-law Carlton H McDaniel; great niece Laura Virginia Huey; father-in-law Eli Culverhouse; mother-in-law Rachel Culverhouse; and brother-in-law Gaylon Culverhouse.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years Gregory Culverhouse; son Mack (Jackie) Culverhouse; sister Linda M. Jones; sister-in-law, Glenda S. McKinley; nieces: Alicia McKinley, Hope (Robert) Huey, Annie (Travis) King, Bryan (Roger) Culverhouse-Crews, Mandy Culverhouse, and Tina Culverhouse; nephews: Joseph Culverhouse, Daniel Ray Culverhouse, and Robert Culverhouse; several great nieces and nephews, and her beloved grand puppies who called her Lolly.
Cindy was born March 1, 1954, in Thomaston, GA. After graduating from R.E. Lee Institute in 1972, she attended and graduated from GA Southern University in 1975 with a degree in Business Management. Cindy worked many years at Neal Logue’s followed by The French Shoppe. Upon purchasing The French Shoppe, Cindy remodeled the store and re-opened it in Fall 1990 until 1997. She then went back to college at Columbus State and earned her teaching certificate in 1999. In Fall 1999, Cindy was employed by the Thomaston- Upson County School System at Upson-Lee North Elementary until her retirement in 2016. She was a beloved teacher and friend to many throughout her teaching career.
In retirement, Cindy enjoyed trips to the beach with family and friends. She also enjoyed catering and hosting events for family and friends. Her favorite foods to make were brownies and sausage balls. Cindy loved her GA Southern Eagles, Chase Elliott, and most importantly- Willie Nelson.
