Mrs. Clare Mae Argo Buchanan, 88, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Buchanan will be held on Friday, November 17th, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Weeks officiating. Burial will be in the Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins at 1:30 PM with Rev. Missy Blumenthal officiating. The family of Mrs. Buchanan will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 until 7:00 PM. Mrs. Buchanan was born in Thomaston on August 2, 1929, a daughter of the late Russell Mayfield Argo and Gladys Artelia Piper Argo. She was the Valedictorian of the R. E. Lee Institute Class of 1946. She was a secretary for the Upson County Clerk of Court until she moved to Warner Robins in 1948. She taught Kindergarten at the Cheerful Cherubs School at the First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins for a number of years and was a parapro in the Houston County School System until her retirement in 1992. She also volunteered at the Happy Hour School for special needs in Warner Robins. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins and served in the choir and as a member of the United Methodist Women's Circle. After moving back to Thomaston she became a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her daughter, Rachel (Keith) Piland of Thomaston; her son, Ron (Theresa) Buchanan of Griffin; two sisters, Esther (Ben) Spinks of Conyers and Barbara (Darrell) Parker of Canton; two brothers, Roy (Dorothy) Burns Argo of Albany and Stanley (Patricia) Argo of Florida; four grandchildren, Britney Krahe of Raleigh, NC, Tyler Buchanan of Griffin, Kristin Meeks of Thomaston and Ashley (Mark) Bostwick of Zebulon; and four great grandchildren, Tanner Meeks, Asher Meeks, Konner Meeks and Chloe Meeks. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Buchanan, Sr., a son, James Edward Buchanan, Jr., and a brother, Ronald Argo. The family of Mrs. Buchanan requests that memorial contributions be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 3133 Crest Highway, Thomaston, GA 30286, or the First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins, 205 North Davis Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
