Mrs. Daisy Nelson, 98, passed peacefully away on Sunday March 9th, 2014 at the Mulberry Grove Senior Living in Statham, Ga. She was born on March 16, 1915 in Bulter, Georgia to the late John M. Bone and Jewell Gaines Bone. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford F Nelson Jr, two sisters Nan Summerour and Helen Glover, two brothers John M. Bone Jr and Ferrell Bone and granddaughter Leigh Pope. Survivors include daughter Carol Norred (William), son Cliff Nelson (Kay), her sister Joyce Perry (Bill), brothers Joe Bone (Eva) and Hillery Bone (Linda), four grandchildren Amy Lefebvre (Jack), Richard Norred, Jordan Nelson, and Kaylyn Nelson, and three great grandchildren Joshua Lefebrve, Andrew Lefebvre and Haley Pope. Daisy was a graduate of the Georgia State College for Women. She began her teaching career in Butler and then moved to Thomaston where she met Clifford. They were married on May 22, 1942. When she retired from teaching she began volunteering in the Upson County School System everyday for almost the entire day. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston for more than seventy years. She was active in Girl Scouts, the Humane Society, Storytelling Guild, and many other organizations. Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday, March 15th at the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston . Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 pm until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston, 403 Birdsong St., Thomaston, GA 30286..
