Mrs. Deborah Claire Collins Hicks

Mrs. Deborah Claire Collins Hicks, age 75, of Thomaston, GA, died Monday, October 23, 2023, at the residence of her brother in Ocilla, GA.

Graveside services for Mrs. Hicks will be held Thursday, October 26, at 11:00 AM, in the Yatesville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jason Weems will officiate, and interment will follow the service.

Mrs. Hicks was born in Rome, New York, on February 11, 1948, to the late James Ernest Flournoy Collins, Sr., and the late Betty Joyce Lovvorn Collins. She was a 1966 Graduate of Knob Noster High School in Missouri, and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. She had served as an administrative assistant at Central Missouri State University, Gordon State University, and the University of North Florida. She had most recently been employed as an administrative assistant at United Bank in Barnesville, GA. Mrs. Hicks was an avid reader, and she enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, and other forms of needle art. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Thomaston.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Jody Bowman Hicks; her sister, Ruth Lynn Collins Reichelderfer; and her brother-in-law, Noel Jack Howell. Survivors include two sisters: Betty Joyce Collins Howell of Thomaston, GA, and Cheryl Sue Collins Boyd Motter of El Paso, TX; three brothers: Arthur Jackson (Marcia) Collins, II of Ocilla; James Ernest Flournoy (Leisa) Collins of Barnesville; and Walter Lovvorn Flournoy Collins of Denver, CO; a special cousin, Donna McBroom (Ronnie) Ellis; nieces: Natasha Collins (Travis) Jordan and Joyce Elizabeth Boyd (Todd) Cripe; great niece, Sadie Carol-Lynn Garrett; great nephew, Jakob Todd Garrett; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
