Mrs. Doris Anne McKoy English, 88, passed away Friday evening, April 17, 2015, in her Wetumpka, AL. home with her two daughters and son-in-law present. Funeral services for Mrs. English will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 12:00 noon, in the Chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Dr. Gerald Kersey will officiate, and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Mrs. English's family will receive friends from 11:30 until the funeral hour at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Born in Chattanooga, TN, she was the middle child of John Thomas and Doris Estelle McGarrah McKoy. She moved with her family to Thomaston, GA, when she was three years old. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1945, where in her senior year she was selected Miss Robert E. Lee. She married James Everette English on June 7, 1946. In 2005, she and her husband relocated to Wetumpka, Al, where she attended Santuck Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years and her son, Terry Lee English. Mrs. McKoy leaves behind two children: Laura (Charles) Huggins of Meansville, GA, and Lynn (Robert) Sutton of Wetumpka, Al; a brother, Jesse Hall (Margaret) McKoy of Union, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Lucy Klann English; and eight grandchildren: Julie English (Omar) Hernandez, Paige English Zaragoza, Michael Reed English, Sara English, Tiffany Sutton (Chad) Crittenden, Noah (Christin) Huggins, Christian (Aslynn) Huggins, and Daniel Huggins. Seven great grandchildren also survive.
