Mrs. Dorothy Nelson Pinkstaff, 99, of Monroe and formerly of Thomaston, died Friday, May 17th, 2019 at the St. Mary's Hospice House in Watkinsville. Funeral services for Mrs. Pinkstaff will be held on Monday, May 20th, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Grace Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Julius Stewart, Elder Mike Newman and Elder Bill Durrence will officiate and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Pinkstaff will receive friends at Grace Primitive Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Mrs. Pinkstaff was born on December 8, 1919 in Thomaston, a daughter of the late Clifford Franklin and Lucinda Permelia Worsham Nelson, Sr. She was a graduate of the R. E. Lee Institute Class of 1937, and the Georgia State College for Women Class of 1939. She was a retired bookkeeper and had been employed by O. W. Jones Hardware and the Martha Mills Division of the B. F. Goodrich Company. Mrs. Pinkstaff was a member of the Upson County Historical Society and was a longtime member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Pinkstaff is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Lyle of Monroe and Rose (Bill Mallory) Pinkstaff of Watkinsville; two sons, David N. (Terry) Pinkstaff of Jacksonville, FL, and Ray (Sonya) Pinkstaff of Knoxville, TN; a brother, William R. Nelson of McRae; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
