Mrs. Edna Pryor Dickens, 88, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mrs. Dickens will be held on Friday, January 3rd, 2014 at 2 pm at East Thomaston Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Smith and Rev. John Blackmon will officiate and burial will follow in South View Cemetery. Mrs. Dickens was born in Lamar County to the late Coggin S. Pryor and Lois Story Pryor. She moved to Thomaston as an infant, and became a life-long resident of Upson County. She was a 1943 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. On July 8th, 1945, she married John Davis 'J. D.' Dickens and their union would last for 68 years. Together they owned and operated Dickens Upholstery Shop for over 50 years. Mrs. Dickens was a life-long, active member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. Mrs. Dickens is also survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Ray) Bowles of Thomaston and Melanie (Mike) Chambers of Meansville; and three grandchildren, Leah Shingler (Jeff) Banford of Mt. Crested Butte, CO, Matthew Chambers of Duluth, and Megan Chambers (Grant) Crago of Indian Trail, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Pryor Fallin and a brother, Hartford Pryor. The family of Mrs. Dickens will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 until 7 pm. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
