Mrs. Elaine S. Ellerbee, 90, of Thomaston, died Saturday, January 21, 2017, at West Village Retirement Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 24, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Elder Julius Stewart and Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Mrs. Ellerbee, daughter of the late Clarence Jefferson and Mary Frances Trice Smith, was born in Upson County on August 8, 1926. She was a 1943 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Ellerbee was a homemaker and also a bookkeeper for Upson Alliance Warehouse and for Tom's. She was a member of the Upson Historical Society and the Grace Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband, Hugh D. Ellerbee, a brother, Bobby C. Smith, and a daughter-in-law, Samee Ellerbee. Survivors include two sons: Steve (Carol) Ellerbee of Thomaston, and Dennis Ellerbee of Jackson, GA; a grandson: Daniel Lankford of McDonough, GA; and two great grandchildren: Dax and Lucy Lankford.
