Mrs. Eleanor Sye Hendricks

Mrs. Eleanor Sye Hendricks, 88, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, April 29th, 2015. Funeral services for Mrs. Hendricks will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 at 11:00 a. m., at Flint River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Pat McCoy, Elder Parker Sye and Elder Lavone Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hendricks was born in Ocala, FL on February 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Henry Sye and Mattie Pope Sye. She grew up in Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Hendricks and her husband, the late Elder John D. Hendricks, had lived in Thomaston for many years while he served as pastor of the Flint River Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Hendricks had been employed for over 20 years with H & R Block and also Holloway Bookkeeping. She was active in the Thurston Home Makers Club, was secretary for the Sunnyside Community Club, and had served the treasurer of the Primitive Baptist Ministers' Wives Association. She was a member of the Flint River Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Hendricks is survived by her daughter, Susan (Tommy) Dobson of Stockbridge; two brothers, Elder Parker (Florence) Sye of Forsyth and Elder Pat (Kathy) McCoy of Culloden; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Hendricks will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Friday from 6 until 8 pm.
