Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson Smith

Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson Smith, 84, of Gainesville and formerly of Thomaston, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Resting Nest Assisted Living in Gainesville. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Monday, July 2nd, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Padgett and Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Smith will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Mrs. Smith was born in Thomaston on March 13, 1934, a daughter of the late James Ernest and Wilma Lucile Mauldin Dawson. She was a retired cloth inspector for Thomaston Mills. She was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen E. and Stan Padgett of Gainesville; a sister, Diane (Walter) Slaton of Raleigh, NC; three brothers, Ernest Dawson and Roy (Brenda) Dawson, both of Thomaston, and Bobby Dawson of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Roswell Aydlotte of Thomaston; three grandchildren, Rev. Shane (Julie) Padgett of Murrayville, and Heath (Erin) Padgett and Haley (Randy) Byers, both of Gainesville; eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fred Smith, and a sister, Rheunette Aydlotte.
