Mrs. Esther Gertrude Turner Maddox, 107, of Thomaston and formerly of Griffin, died on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at Brightmoor Hospice. Funeral services for Mrs. Maddox will be held Friday, October 3rd, 2014 at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home in Thomaston. Rev. Paul Caspers will officiate and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin. Mrs. Maddox was born in Dawsonville, GA on October 24th, 1906, a daughter of the late Robert Nathaniel Turner and Rhoda Padgett Turner. She lived in Griffin from 1926 until 1989, when she moved to Thomaston. She retired from the Griffin Division of Thomaston Mills after 14 years of service and later was a health care sitter. While a resident of Griffin Mrs. Maddox attended the Church of God. After she moved to Thomaston she attended Clarks Chapel Baptist Church and later joined the Silvertown Baptist Church. Mrs. Maddox is survived by two sons, Charles M. (Wanda) Blackwell of Manchester and Larry A. (Medra) Blackwell of Bremen; 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Norma R. O'pry, Annie M. Blackwell, and Marie E. Davis, and a son, Clarence F. Blackwell. The family of Mrs. Maddox will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home on Friday from 12:30 pm until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Silvertown Baptist Church, 300 West Goodrich Ave., Thomaston, GA 30286
