Mrs. Evangeline Hamby Boyt, 78, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Boyt will be held Thursday, November 8, at 1:00 PM, at the Antioch Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Morgan will officiate, and burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, November 7, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Boyt was born April 13, 1940, in Upson County, to the late Ernest Radford Hamby, Sr., and Mary Lizzie Tolen Hamby. She was co-owner of Boyt's Feed & Seed and had previously been employed by Carter's and Playtex. Mrs. Boyt was a member of the West Georgia Women's Golf Association and of Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boyt was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Hamby, Jr., James Hamby, and Donnie Hamby, and a granddaughter, Nicole Thibodoux. She is survived by her husband, Gordon B. Boyt of Thomaston; a daughter Teresa Boyt (Joseph) Thibodoux of West Virginia; three sons: Tracy (Amanda) Boyt and Tim (Teri) Boyt, both of Thomaston, and Todd (Maureen) Boyt of Ft. Collins, CO; five sisters: Hazel James of Macon; Runette (Richard) Bobo of Macon; Elizabeth Harris of California; Ernestine (Larry) Fordham of Thomaston; and Diane Hamby of Snellville; two brothers: Bobby (Jackie) Hamby and Benny Hamby, both of Thomaston; eight grandchildren: Crystal (Nathan) Wheeler, Brad (Kristy) Boyt, and Clint (Brittany) Boyt, all of Thomaston; Reilly Boyt and Caiden Boyt of Ft. Collins, CO; Emily Boyt and Matthew Boyt of Thomaston; and Natalie Thibodoux of West Virginia; eight great grandchildren: Mabrey Wheeler, Summer Wheeler, Autumn Wheeler, James Wheeler, Aubrey Boyt, Tucker Boyt, Jacob Fallin, and Olivia Boyt.
