Mrs. Frances Boroughs Watson

Mrs. Frances Boroughs Watson, 89, of Thomaston, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Private funeral services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Charles Bennett and Rev. Andy Cunningham officiating. Mrs. Watson was born July 15, 1930 in Bowden, GA. She attended elementary school in Franklin, GA. She graduated from Miami Eidson High School, Miami, FL., in June of 1946. She attended West Georgia College then went on to the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 with a degree in Journalism. She attended Tift College where she obtained her teaching certificate and started teaching in 1968. She taught school for 27 years. Mrs. Watson was married to her beloved husband, Wyna B. Watson, Jr., in 1950 until his death in 2015. Mrs. Watson was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the treasurer of the Fellowship Sunday School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma for Educators, Faith Group United Methodist Women, and the Golden Age Club. Mrs. Watson was also preceded in death by her parents, Metta Rae and Claude Kivett Boroughs. She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Chuck) Knowles; her son, Wyna B. Watson III; Carol Watson; grandchildren Kris (Kelley) Knowles, Patrick (Chandler) Knowles, Lindsay (Justin) Wynn, Wyna B. (Jessie) Watson IV, and Chad (Taylor) Watson; and three great grandchildren.
