Mrs. Ginny Andrews Gower, 92, of Thomaston, died April 28, 2021, at the residence of her daughter in Griffin, GA. A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Gower will be held on Friday, May 7, at 2:00 PM, in South View Cemetery with Rev. Bill Barber officiating. Mrs. Gower was born in Gainesville, GA, on December 30, 1928, to the late Rafe and Ella Rider Luther. She received a BA degree from Tift College and moved to Thomaston in 1950 to teach seventh and eighth grade English at R. E. Lee Grammar School. Mrs. Gower was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club, URMC Auxiliary, Red Hatters Society. She was a member of the Thursday afternoon bridge club for more than 50 years. Mrs. Gower enjoyed traveling, reading, painting, sewing, cooking, and needlework. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomaston where she was active in the Welcome Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gower was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of thirty-six years, Frank Powell Andrews, Jr.; and her second husband, Dr. William Justus Gower. She is survived by a daughter, Ashley (Bob) McKneely of Griffin, GA; a son: Powell (Tamara) Andrews of Bowling Green, KY; and three grandchildren: Maci M. (Zach) Howard of Hickory, NC; Morgan McKneely of Griffin, GA; and Frank Huckabay "Huck" Andrews of Shreveport, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those desiring make memorial contributions to Pass the Salt Ministry, First Baptist Church, 208 South Church Street, Thomaston, GA 30286.
