Mrs. Harriett Collins Raines

Mrs. Harriett Collins Raines, 79, of Yatesville, died Monday, November 12, 2018, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Yatesville. Mrs. Raines was born in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Madalyn Hickmon, and William Harris Collins. She was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. She married her late husband Mr. Robert Eugene "Gene" Raines in 1959. Harriett and Gene worked with Harriett's parents at Collins Grocery on Barnesville Street until they purchased the family business in 1975. In 1983, they moved the business to 217 East Main Street, where they owned and operated Collins ABC Food Center until their retirement in 1997. Mrs. Raines was a member of Yatesville Baptist Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Children's Ministry or Awana. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Thomas) Howell of Thomaston; a brother, Billy (JoAnne) Collins of Lincolnton, GA; two grandsons, Jackson and Colin Howell of Thomaston, an uncle, James "Sonny" Hickmon of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
