Mrs. Inez L. Vaughan, 88, formerly of 107 Oakdale St.,Thomaston, died Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Lancaster, PA. Memorial services for Mrs. Vaughan will be held Saturday, August 16th, 2014 at 11:00 A. M., at the First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston with Dr. Al Simmons and Dr. Bill Conine officiating. Mrs. Vaughan was born in Cassville, GA., on May 9th, 1926, a daughter of the late William Lavasque and Kate Bell Lavasque. She graduated from Cassville High School and was a guard for the Region Champion Cassville High School Girls Basketball team. During World War II Mrs. Vaughan's spirit of patriotism led her to seek employment with the Martin Marietta Company. Mrs. Vaughan was a welding inspector on the assembly line building war planes. On November 3rd, 1951, she married her husband, the late Thomas W. Vaughan. In 1957 they moved to Thomaston and purchased the NAPA Auto Parts Store. The Vaughans joined the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston in 1958. She was an active and faithful member of the church as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her three children, Mike (Lynn) Vaughan of Thomaston, Dale Vaughan (Steve) Hansen of Lancaster, PA, and Neil Vaughan of Thomaston; two sisters, Evelyn Lavasque (Sam) Allen and Peggy Lavasque (Ronnie) Wilson, and a brother, Jim Lavasque, all of Cartersville; four grandchildren, Bradford Thomas Vaughan of Tallahassee, FL, Steven Hansen of Lancaster, PA, Ben Vaughan of Warner Robins and Kaitlyn Vaughan of Thomaston; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vaughan's family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 403 Birdsong Street, Thomaston,Georgia 30286.
