Mrs. Jean Childs Pitts, 90, of Walnut Creek, CA, and formerly of Thomaston and Macon, died Sunday, June 18, 2017. Funeral services for Mrs. Pitts will be held Thursday, June 29, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Carey Pitts will officiate, and entombment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 -11:00 AM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Pitts was born in Thomaston on May 19, 1927, to the late George D. and Mattie Lois Salter Childs. She was a 1945 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and she worked for many years with her husband, the late McKenzie Cooke Pitts, as the business manager of their auto parts store in Macon. She was a member of the Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church in Macon, GA. Mrs. Pitts is survived by two daughters: Sheila Pitts (Michael) Carroll of LaFayette, CA and Patti Ann Pitts of Byron, GA; three granddaughters: Michele (Stuart) Colaco, Shannon (Connor) Tierney, and Amanda (Trent) Thiel, all of CA; a brother, George Childs of Thomaston, and six great grandchildren.
