Mrs. Jewell Bridges Farr, 92, of Thomaston, died Saturday, August 5th, 2017 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Farr will be held on Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Bob Wilson, Rev. Greg Rosenthal and Rev. Dan Crawford will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in South View Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Farr will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 from 5 until 7 PM. Mrs. Farr was born in Meriwether County on October 18, 1924, a daughter of the late Homer and Velma Lee Bridges. She served her country as a medical technician in the U. S. Army during World War II. After her honorable discharge from the Army Mrs. Farr attended cosmetology school. She was a beautician for over 70 years and was the owner and operator for the Vanity Beauty Shop. Mrs. Farr was a member of the Hightower United Methodist Church for over fifty years where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a youth program advisor and as a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Thomaston-Upson County Historical Society. Mrs. Farr was an avid reader and was also a regular attendee at community Veterans events. She was a participant in a military Honor Flight. Mrs. Farr is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Pete) Caffall of Peachtree City; two sons, Dr. Tommy (Sheryl) Farr of Thomaston and Dr. Ken (Karen) Farr of Eatonton; two sisters, Hazel (James) Young of Yatesville and Bonnie Kate (Donald) Corley of Thomaston; seven grandchildren, Zac (Kerry) Caffall of Durham, NC, Adrienne (Todd) Child and Susan (Dan) DeNell, both of Zebulon, Josh (Hollie) Farr of Lawrenceville, Tyla (Alfredo) Gonzalez of Columbus, and Taylor Farr and Davis Farr, both of Eatonton; 13 great grandchildren, Lillian and Elsie Caffall of Durham, NC, Grayson, Garrett, and Winn (Michelle) Child of Zebulon, Hannah Child of Florida, Joe and Naomi Carolan of Zebulon, Joey and Sarah DeNell of Peachtree City, Caleb and Jace Farr of Lawrenceville, and Joaquin Gonzalez of Columbus; and one great great grandchild, Carson Child of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Farr, a sister, Suzanne Doggett, and brothers Preston Bridges, Franklin Bridges and Eddie Bridges.
