Mrs. Joan Fincher Ballard, 80, of Thomaston, died Saturday, August 21, 2021 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Ballard will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Mrs. Ballard was born in Rome on March 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Harbin Fincher and Fannie Mae Bradshaw. She was an accomplished billiards player and competed twice in the Amateur Women’s World Billiards Championship. She was also a master bridge player. Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Georgia High School Rodeo Association, a member of the Red Hatters, and was a member and past president of the Fayette County Women’s Club. She was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Ballard is survived by her husband, Wendell Ballard; her son, Wendell “Tommy” Ballard and her daughter-in-law, Ashley Ballard, of Thomaston; a sister, Millie Black and brother-in-law Joe Black, of Vonore, TN; and nine grandchildren.
