Mrs. Joan Perdue Carr

April 18, 1937 — May 19, 2021

Mrs. Joan Perdue Carr born April 18, 1937, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was a devoted wife of 65 years, loving mother to her daughters Karen and Stacy, and beloved by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan taught elementary school in Richmond County for 30 years. She was apart of the first graduating class at Augusta College. For 21 years she managed summertime pools as well as country club pools. Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta for 45 years, and then joined Vineville Baptist Church for 14 years. She served numerous roles at the church particularly the Fall Bazaar. She leaves behind her husband Wm. Respess Carr, two daughters Karen Carr Kenny and Stacy Carr Thrasher, sister Kathy Perdue Davis, five grandchildren Wesley Sargent, Rachel Poole, Kyler Thrasher, Hannah Walton, and Keenan Thrasher, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents James Seay Perdue, Fran Britt Perdue, and sister Janet Perdue Cowart. Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, June 12, at 2:00 PM, in Glenwood Cemetery. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of all local arrangements.
