Mrs. Juanita Oglesbee Alexander, age 94, of Thomaston, died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Alexander will be held Tuesday, April 19, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church of Thomaston. Rev. Bill Barber will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, April 18, from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Alexander was born November 16, 1927, in Burke County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Jim W. Oglesbee and the late Gertrude Boyd Oglesbee. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Thomaston City Schools for thirty-three years until her retirement. She was the past Matron of Morning Star Chapter #370 Order of Eastern Star and the past president of AARP chapter 2258 and belonged to the National AARP. She was a "pink lady" with URMC Auxiliary for many years. She was member of First Baptist Church of Thomaston, the builders Sunday School class, and served in various capacities throughout the church. She was a family-oriented person who enjoyed spending time with them. Mrs. Alexander is survived by her daughter, Joyce Pauline Townsend of McDonough; her son, Bobby (Pattie) Alexander of Macon; four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Alexander in 2008 and her brother, Willie Oglesbee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Foundation, 208 S. Church Street, Thomaston, GA 30286. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
