Mrs. Laree Day Slaughter

Mrs. LaRee Day Slaughter, 95, of Thomaston, died Friday, November 20, 2020, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Slaughter will be held Monday, November 23, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Barber and Rev. Marc Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Slaughter was born November 5, 1925 in Upson County to the late R. T. and Gladys Sentell Day. She was a 1942 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Following graduation, she joined Day Realty Company which her parents began in 1943. Mrs. Slaughter was the first licensed female real estate agent and broker in Upson County, and at the time of her retirement, she was owner and associate broker of the agency. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomaston. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald B. Slaughter and a grandson, Jeremy Slaughter. Survivors include two daughters: Joan S. Boyer of Atlanta and Jan S. (Jackie) Knight of Thomaston; a son: Gerald T. Slaughter, Sr. of Thomaston; eight grandchildren: Melody (Randy) McCoy of Jasper, FL, Travis (Dana) Slaughter of Thomaston; Clarissa (Rodney) Peterson of Zebulon, GA, Sheree (Sean) Boyd, Trey (Suzanne) Boyer, Shane (Alison) Boyer, and Cal Knight, all of Atlanta, GA; and Matt (Hailey) Knight of Thomaston. Also surviving are her 18 great grandchildren, and her eight great-great grandchildren. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to First Baptist Church Television Ministry, 208 S.
