Mrs. Laura Ann Fletcher Durand, age 61, of 102 Dianne Drive, Thomaston, died Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017, at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday morning, June 24, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Lawrence will officiate, and burial will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 PM. Mrs. Durand was a 1974 graduate of Robert E. Lee Institute. She majored in English at Tift College in Forsyth and graduated with honors in 1978. She was employed by Delta Airlines for many years and later was a home maker. She was a member of the Greenville Presbyterian Church. Laura enjoyed many art forms including, oil and water painting, piano, and knitting. She loved the outdoors, especially birding and botanical study. She also enjoyed reading and cooking. While her children were students at Flint River Academy she supported their interests and activities as a parent. Mrs. Durand was preceded in death by her father, James H. “Jimmy” Fletcher. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Ann Durand of Mobile, Alabama; one son, Mr. Russell Durand of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; her mother, Mrs. Ann Pasley Fletcher of Thomaston, GA; two brothers, Mr. James P. “Jim” Fletcher (Jana) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; and Mr. Robert H. “Bob” (Kyle) Fletcher of Thomaston, Georgia.
