Mrs. Linda Claire Jones Best

Mrs. Linda Claire Jones Best, 74, of The Rock, GA, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at her residence. Memorial services for Mrs. Best will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 2:00 PM, at The Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Gossett and Rev. Arianna Eberle officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church. Mrs. Best was born in Thomaston on September 8, 1947, to the late Davis and Mildred Jones. She was a 1965 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and she attended LaGrange College and Gordon College. Mrs. Best was employed by Reddick Construction Company for eighteen years and later by The Travel Connection for twenty-six years. Mrs. Best spent many volunteer hours with Christmas Kitchen (15 years), Food for Thought (4 years), and First Steps. She participated in medical mission trips to Zambia (4 years) and mission trips to the Dominican Republic (4 years), as well as UMCOR Louisiana Post Katrina Disaster Relief. She was an avid hiker, biker, kayaker, adventurer, and nature lover. Mrs. Best was a member of The Rock United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Best was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Alaine Best, and a great granddaughter, Lumi Alaina Bridges. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Best; a son, Brad Best; a granddaughter, Chelsee Best, a brother Davy (Kayla) Jones. Also surviving are grandchildren: Cheyanne, Aliyha, and Braden Dawson; Jaicee Freeman; Dathan Wood; Shayla Hanson; Amanda (David) McCoy; Dustin Daniel; Jacob Murray; and seven great grandchildren; a nephew, Zachary (Miriam) Jones; along with forever daughters-in-love: April (Bradley) Dawson; Brandi Wood (Niki Wheeler); Teresa (Chris) Raybon; and Sheila Murray. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Jubilee Centre, 384 Quail Run, Thomaston, GA 30286.
